Faba/Fava or Broad Beans were introduced into Australia in NSW in the early 1980’s and are now produced in WA/SA/Vic/NSW and southern Qld. Australia harvest approximately 200,000 to 500,000 mt of Faba bean. They are used both for animal feed and human consumption with utilization approximately 50:50. Much of the exportable surplus goes into the Middle East.
